Mediation

Winter Park Mediator

The decisions made during your divorce can have a dramatic impact on your future. Wouldn't it be better to make them yourself?

My name is Paul V. Moyer. As an Orlando family law mediator, I provide mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services for people wishing to settle their family law issues, whether a divorce , paternity or other family law concerns, without the uncertainty of leaving the decision to the judge. From my office in Orlando, Florida or satellite locations in Daytona Beach, Orlando, Clermont, and Kissimmee, I represent spouses, domestic partners and same-sex couples throughout the Orlando metro and surrounding communities.

Why Choose Mediation?

As a family law mediator certified by the Florida Supreme Court, I understand that family law litigation can be both financially and emotionally draining. Instead of adding to the stress by taking your issues to court, I work with parties as they try to negotiate an amicable settlement that each can live with.

While no one ever gets everything he or she wants in mediation, they will certainly never in a trial. Therefore, mediation is beneficial because it:

  • Allows you maintain control over all the outcomes of your settlement, instead of relying on a judge's final decision based on the evidence.
  • Takes less time than formal divorce proceedings because all issues are resolved through discussions between both parties and their attorneys.
  • Often saves money on court fees and other procedural costs.
  • Keeps your information private, whereas divorce proceedings held in court are kept on the public record.
  • Finalizes the process and lessens the tremendous emotional drain on all parties.

It is also especially effective for parents working through child time sharing (custody) and child support issues. Since Florida law requires that all parenting plans include time-sharing arrangements set out by parents, mediation allows you to establish a plan that works best for your individual schedules, keeping the children's best interests in mind throughout.

Collaborative Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution

In addition to mediation, I assist clients in resolving issues through collaborative law. I will work with their spouse's attorney and mutually retained professionals (certified public accountants, psychologists, etc.) towards an agreed-upon goal. I strive to achieve a settlement that works for you and your entire family.
